This position is responsible for all management aspects of Stanford Health Care's cloud platforms, including direct management of a team of cloud infrastructure and DevOps engineers. This role will additionally be responsible for the definition and development of technical designs and standards, serve as a source of level three engineering support for complex and recurring issues in the environment, and provide technical vision and thought leadership regarding long-term deployments of cloud platform technologies such as IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions. The position will have budgetary responsibility for steady state operations as well as for management of any retained contracts for support, as well as maintain close relationships with cloud vendor account teams to stay up to date on offerings and changes in a fast-changing technical landscape.
The position will develop key performance indicators and maintain metrics for Capacity, Availability, Performance, Compliancy, and team Responsiveness, in addition to the reporting of project progress to internal project management teams for reporting to IT leadership and customers. The position will have oversight responsibility for the health and functions of cloud platform services required to maintained and exceed uptime requirements of the Application Portfolio and Business Owners. This position will oversee the development, maintenance, and enhancement of standards for cloud adoption within Stanford Health Care's operating environments.
The position will be responsible for all Disaster Recovery and failover scenario tests and functions, including maintaining test plans and results involving Stanford Health Care's cloud environments.

Stanford Health Care recently won the 29th Annual CIO100 award for the work on SHC's MyHealth eCheckin and integrated Wayfind solution. The solution reminds the patient of their upcoming appointments, allows them to complete the check-in process in the comfort of their home, get step by step directions on campus to their clinic and be automatically checked in on arrival.
The industry first solution was conceived, designed and developed in house by the 'Software Design and Development' team. The MyHealth team, is a cross functional team of Designers, Software Developers, Analysts and Product Managers. They worked in close collaboration with clinical operations, revenue cycle, facilities management and patient experience on this project.

Direct management of a team of Cloud Infrastructure / DevOps Engineers
Identify and deliver innovative technology solutions that deliver business value and improve delivery experience utilizing the latest in cloud technologies from Stanford Health Care's primary cloud vendors.
Track team performance towards department goals and metrics and prioritize support efforts across the environments.
Manage SLA's with customer teams and ensure staff communication and compliance with stated agreements.
Lead the definition, development, and publication of policies, standards, and procedures related to cloud technologies.
Manage incident resolution within the environment, facilitating collaboration among other infrastructure support teams as required.
Serve as a source of level three engineering support for complex and recurring issues in the environment.
Management of cloud-based DevOps automation, with CI/CD technologies such as Chef, Jenkins, Git, Maven, and Vagrant.
Manage application environments based on container technologies such as Docker Swarm or Kubernetes.
Seek opportunities to improve or optimize processes through automation
Manage vendors and external resources as necessary to achieve project deliverables.
Communicate project status, deliverables, issues, and risks in a timely manner to stakeholders and project managers.
Ensure root cause analysis is performed in accordance with SHC policies and standards.
Ensure that cloud service management tools are fully integrated with SHC's IT service management system.
Ensure proper population and ongoing curation of data in the SHC configuration management database.
Lead cloud services capacity planning and consolidation using teams and resources of varying skills and technologies.
Participate in security and application troubleshooting and incident resolution with other infrastructure teams, including storage, Unix and Windows systems, cloud services hosted by Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google cloud, as well as database and network services.
Collaborate with enterprise architecture to evaluate and recommend tools and processes that enhance the stability and functionality of the server environment, ensuring that any new technologies are compatible with SHC architecture and standards initiatives.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5 years of IT leadership experience required
Minimum of 8 years of IT experience at the architecture / engineering level required
Preferred Experience: Emphasis on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and
Google Cloud Platform required.
