Salary Structures

Every job at the Hospital is assigned to a pay range with minimum and maximum salary levels that define what the Medical Center pays for the job. The pay ranges are periodically updated to reflect market trends for comparable jobs. Although we do not post salary ranges, our market analysis ensures that the salaries paid are fair and competitive. Within each pay range, there is flexibility to compensate employees competitively and equitably.

Special Pay Programs

In addition to standard compensation, Stanford Health Care offers various incentive and special pay programs for eligible team members. Depending on your department and position, you may qualify for:

  • Backup Care – Backup Care Options provides backup care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for your loved ones of any age, whether healthy or mildly ill. This program provides a safety net during unexpected events when you need outside care on short-term notice.
  • Commuting and Parking – You can pay your work transportation expenses through convenient payroll deductions and save money by paying before taxes are taken from your pay. You can also use the pre-tax parking and transportation program for onsite parking permits, transit passes and vanpool expenses.
Access to Stanford University Programs

As an employee, you have access to several valuable programs offered by the University, including:

  • The Health Improvement Program (HIP), which offers a wide range of fitness and health management courses and activities
  • Stanford’s WorkLife Office, which provides elder care and child care consultation and referrals, onsite child care programs and other services to help you maintain a healthy balance in your life

Praise

A simple, sincere “thank you” can go a long way, and this belief reflects the central themes in the Hospital’s C-I-CARE philosophy. When a co-worker or supervisor does something praise-worthy, we make it a point to thank that person – face-to-face, over the phone or in writing. Employees can also include special “kudos” as agenda items at staff meetings.

These cards are two tangible examples of C-I-CARE in action. The Hospital furnishes our patients, staff members, and managers with thank you cards that they can use to acknowledge exceptional service by staff, physicians, and volunteers. Rewards cards have a value of up to $5 and are redeemable at many locations on our campus. These cards can be given with a thank you card when a manager identifies actions above or beyond expectations.
